How Shipping from Nigeria to the US, UK and Canada Works

Market & People uses a consolidation hub model for every international order to Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Vendors ship your items to our hub in Lagos, and we combine them into a single international shipment. This is how that works, from checkout to your door.

The steps

  1. You buy from one or more Nigerian vendors.
  2. Each vendor ships to our Lagos hub. Items typically reach the hub within 7 days of the vendor dispatching them.
  3. Your items wait at the hub and are consolidated, for up to 30 days at no holding fee.
  4. Once all your items have arrived, we ship within 2 business days.
  5. Shipping fees are charged after your items are weighed at the hub. You authorize your card for automatic charges when you proceed with consolidation.

Single consolidation

Single consolidation is for one buyer who wants to combine several orders. Your consolidation code is valid for 7 days, so you can place more orders within that window and have them shipped together. Holding at the hub is free for up to 30 days, which is also the maximum. If you do not request an extension, your items ship automatically on day 30. If some products have not arrived by then, the shipment is split.

Group consolidation

Group consolidation lets you share a shipping code with friends and family to save on shipping. A group has a maximum of five people: one person who creates the code and up to four members. The code is valid for 7 days, and everyone must use it within that window. If the group is not filled, it defaults to single consolidation. Holding and fees are the same as for single consolidation, and the person who created the code receives the notifications and manages the group.

Fees

The shipping fee itself is charged after your items are weighed at the hub. Paid extensions are not currently offered while the maximum hold is 30 days.

How long does delivery take?

We do not yet publish a fixed delivery estimate. Vendor production and shipping times vary, items typically reach the hub within 7 days of dispatch, and we ship within 2 business days once everything has arrived. You can follow your consolidation under “My Consolidations” and you receive a notification when items arrive and when your shipment is dispatched.

Customs, duties and taxes

Market & People handles the international shipping, export paperwork and tracking. Import duties, taxes on imports and any customs requests are the buyer's responsibility and are set by your country. Check your country's duty-free limits, keep your tracking number, respond promptly to customs, and save your receipt, which shows the value for customs. Returns

Because of international shipping and consolidation logistics, physical returns are generally not accepted for orders shipped outside Nigeria. Refunds may be reviewed and approved under specific conditions, so check product descriptions, sizing information and photos before you order. See the full return policy.
